Job summary
The Loss Prevention Officer is a surveillance and security professional responsible for preventing damage and theft and protecting people, money, equipment, and merchandise. This role includes patrolling store aisles and monitoring customers, watching security camera footage, and responding to suspected incidents of theft.

Responsibilities:
• Monitor all areas of the property for internal and external theft, unusual activity, and/or potential security threats.
• Monitor security systems such as alarms and closed-circuit cameras.
• Verify customer receipts at the exit and conduct further investigation as necessary.
• Identify, document and report all internal/external theft, security violations and potential hazards to management.
• Work with law enforcement to detain suspected shoplifters.
• Maintain records of incidents.
• Ensure trespass documentation is completed and recorded.
• Assist with the development and/or implementation of security policies.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
- Complete closing manager duties at the end of the day.
- Manage training of staff regarding health and safety.
- Manage and train new security staff ex. What behvioural signs to be aware of for potential theft.
- Train cashiers on common areas of concern with regards to theft.
Requirements / Skills
• Valid Provincial Security Guard licence
• Experience in loss prevention techniques and processes
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent conflict resolution capabilities
• Ability to handle physical demands including standing/walking for 8 hours
• Ability to work shifts (days, evenings, week-ends and holidays)
• Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations
• Ability to find solutions to problems, adapt and cope with challenging situations and make difficult decisions
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Basic computer skills
